Just as chefs care about their ingredients, we care about our material Cotton is known as “short-fiber” material, as the fiber length is usually under 25mm. We use extra-long stable cotton from China’s Xinjiang region for our 200/4PLY shirts, with a fiber length of 35 mm or more.
Ultra-fine thread from extra-long staple cotton “200/4 PLY”on the label refers to the thinness of the thread used for the fabric. This special thread is made by twisting four extra-fine yarns of 200 count threads. The delicate, high-density weave of this thread creates a one-of-a-kind fabric.
Unique Coloring + Elegant Gloss = Beautiful Designs The 200/4PLY shirts take advantage of the excellent coloration properties of cotton, combined with the glossy silk-like texture created by using ultrafine yarn. The colors and patterns are all original designs for Kamakura Shirts.
Mother of Pearl ~Natural Shell Buttons~ The natural shell buttons are made using “Mother of Pearl”, a material found in the inner shell of pearl oysters. Each pearl button has a unique shine and luster, adding a little luxury to your everyday shirt.
Now available in our new "Manhattan Model" “The shirt everyone has been waiting for…” The Manhattan Model was created by Norimitsu Shibayama, Chairman of the Japan Modelist Association. Collar, body, sleeve – every detail is lavished with attention. ※Some shirts are not the “Manhattan Model” and use different sewing specifications.
The "Compact" Slim Fit
Collar The inside and outside of the collar use different patterns to create a beautifully engineered, compact design. By using a technique known as shirring, we've created an elegant collar that wraps around your neck.
Body The shirt pattern has been improved by making the front panel larger and the back smaller than our previous slim fits. For a slim appearance and fit, the waist point and back darts have been lowered too.
Sleeves The sleeves have been made slimmer, and point forward naturally. The curve of the sleeve has been tailored to match that of the jacket, which in turn means the cuff of the shirt sleeve and the jacket are parallel.
Details The smaller 9 mm diameter top button complements the sharp look of the collar. To match the elegant feel of the new model, the front placket, sleeve placket and stitch width have been narrowed.
Pocket The pocket has been placed slightly slanted on the shirt so that it will appear straight when worn. As an added elegant detail, the stitch on the pocket is triangular. (*Button-down shirts only.)
