VINTAGE
IVY
Designed in collaboration with illustrator Graham Marsh,
the Vintage Ivy button-down shirt resembles the basic styles
on American college campuses during the 1960s.
The shirt body comes in a slightly tapered fit with a box pleat at back.
The shorter three-inch soft collar offers two quintessential Ivy details:
a back-button and locker loop.
The shirt cuffs are pleated, and the six-button front uses
real cream-colored takase shell buttons.
An indispensable piece for any wardrobe,
the Vintage Ivy model can be worn tucked-in on
a night out and untucked for a Sunday at the park.
AMETORA
Ametora is Japanese slang for "American traditional"
- the East Coast collegiate style that forged
the Japanese menswear industry in the 1960s.
Our Ametora button-down offers an authentic recreation
of the dress shirts commonly seen on
Madison Avenue in the 1950s.
The shirt body uses the looser fit of that era,
and the long collar, at 3.5-inches, is perfect for wearing
with a necktie and navy blazer or for staying visible under
a sweater. Other Ivy-style details include a box pleat at back,
gathered sleeves on barrel cuffs, and the widely
spaced six-front buttons are made from white mother-of-pearl.
UNSTRUCTURED
IVY JACKET
A perfect example of classic Ivy style is the unstructured suit jacket, which takes the sturdy fabrics and classic silhouettes of a British sports coat and makes it more casual with light construction.
Kamakura Shirts’ version of this jacket is based on the preferred style of university students in the Fifties and sixties. Both can be dressed up with proper slacks and a necktie or dressed down with jeans. All of the details are pure Ivy: natural shoulders, a narrow lapel, a three-roll-two front closure, no front darts, a patch pocket on the chest, patch-and-flap side pockets, and a center hook vent at back.
TAKE IVY
5 POCKET
These five-pocket pants are a faithful reproduction of the pairs worn by students in the 1965 photobook, Take Ivy. The pants’ unique high rise is not just a period detail but perfect for tucking in a vintage Ivy shirt. We made slight adjustments to the specifications depending on the fabric used, paying close attention to every detail.

For the pairs using selvedge denim, we added rivets and used a design that aligns the red selvedge line with the outer side seam. For the non-denim fabrics, we opted for a minimalist design without much hardware, incorporating rolled-out seams, which help give the pants a rustic vintage feel that only grows more interesting with every wash.
CLASSIC CUT
IVY TROUSERS
It's been often hard to find true-to-form Ivy trousers, so we faithfully recreated them. Our trousers feature a deep rise, a slim beltline, and belt loops. The pockets, placed along the side seams, are spacious enough to comfortably fit your hands.
The fit is relaxed from the waist to the knee, with a slight taper towards the hem, making them a perfect match for loafers or other slip-ons,
creating a sophisticated urban classic style.
HORSESHOE
BUCKLE
SLIM
LEATHER BELT
When it comes to high-waisted traditional trousers, we find a slim belt with a classic gold horseshoe buckle to be the ideal pairing.
This piece isn't just an accessory;
it's a subtle shaper of the Kamakura Classics aesthetic. The buckle is crafted from 100% polished brass, while the front features Italian Nappa leather with a beautiful casein finish.
For durability and comfort, the back is made from Japanese tanned leather. Measuring 25mm in width with a precise 25mm hole pitch, it provides both style and function.
UNTIPPED
NARROW TIE
In the heyday of Ivy fashion in the 1960s, untipped ties were common, but today this technique is decreasing year by year. Although it lacks the fluffy finish characteristic of hand-rolled blades, the machine-stitched edge, though uncommon nowadays, imparts a practical and earnest impression.the machine-stitched edge, though uncommon nowadays, imparts a practical and earnest impression. and features a durable Three-Fold Envelope construction.
The Hand Sewn Slip Stitch highlights the meticulous craftsmanship, while the design does not include a Self-Keeper. The Wool Mixed Interlining provides
the tie with an ideal drape and knot.
