Regular price $190.00These warm autumn/winter button-down shirts are made from high-quality, Japanese needlecord fabric — a much finer version of corduroy ideal for shirting. The weaving, dyeing, and finishing of the fabric are all done in the Enshu region of Shizuoka Prefecture, where 95% of Japanese corduroy is produced. The fabric is dyed in a drum washer and sun-dried, a method that avoids rollers crushing the ridges in the fabric. The fabric is then singed with fire, wetted, and kneaded to create an ultra-soft texture only possible through Japanese manufacturing.

*Please note:
A fantastic shirt with a timeless Ivy style. The seersucker fabric is lightweight, breathable, and perfect for warm weather, while the construction and overall quality are excellent.
For sizing, I'm typically between a European 39/40. I chose a 16½ for a more comfortable, relaxed fit, and it was exactly what I was looking for. If you prefer a roomier fit rather than a tailored one, sizing up worked well for me.
Versatile formal trousers with excellent fabric, tailoring, and overall construction. I'm very happy with the quality and fit.
For sizing reference, I normally wear a 34-inch waist. Based on my previous experience with Kamakura, I usually size up by one, so I ordered a size 50—and it fits perfectly.
If you're between sizes , consider sizing up. I'll definitely be buying more colours in this style.
As an older fella who’s enjoyed (or been underwhelmed by) OCBDs from shirtmakers over the years (e.g., Troy Guild, Brooks Brothers, Sero, Mercer & Sons, Jake’s (London), Drake’s, O’Connell’s, Individualized), this Kamakura AMETORA shirt is a valentine to what a classic OCBD is supposed to be; it definitely checks all the boxes: full cut, unfused placket/ cuffs/ collar, the correct placket width, medium weight cloth, and a collar-roll as god intended (and few makers get right). Great sizing, too: i typically get a 15.5 X 33 shirt and this 15.5” turned out to be perfect in the sleeves for me. More color options, please.
Usual bespoke user. Apart from bespoke, best quality shirt that I have tried. Is my first purchase and won’t be the last. Thanks!
I was a bit reluctant to make this purchase because I couldn't decide whether the Medium or Large would be the best fit. For items like this, I would normally buy a Medium. For reference, I'm 6'2" and 165 lbs. After going back and forth - and reading that this garment is intended as an overshirt - I decided on the Large size. Lucky for me, the fit is perfect. It's not too big. It drapes beautifully, and the design, with its simplicity and clean lines, is exactly what I was looking for. I'm hard to please when it comes to clothing. Purchasing online is even more daunting. Ordering internationally without a return policy felt like a real bet. However, I made the bet, and I'm very happy that I did. I've had it for less than a week and have received multiple compliments from multiple strangers, which is unusual - more of a testament to its beautiful simplicity.
