Regular price $190.00Sea Island cotton is the origin of all extra-long staple cottons and the reigning top-quality cotton used to be cultivated in the Caribbean, but was discontinued in the early 20th century due to devastating insect damage.
A century has passed since then. Thanks to modern agriculture, technological advances, and research into cultivation methods, Sea Island cotton has made a comeback in a limited area on the border between Texas and New Mexico in the United States. This "miracle cotton" was named "American Sea Island Cotton."
The border between Texas and New Mexico is the site of the revival of the cotton industry, provided an ideal environment for cotton cultivation.
We are certified by BCI (Better Cotton Initiative), which sets standards for sustainable cultivation of cotton.

*Please note:
Apparently, I am NOT a 161/2-34 in this Tokyo Slim Fit. The sleeves are at least 1” too short. Looks ok when your arms are at your side, but the moment you extend your arm to shake someone’s hand, the sleeve rides up. I emailed Kamakura Shirts asking for a solution, stating that I travel to Japan annually and always wanted to try this shirt brand as I would likely buy more. Also, it would appear, that a 161/2-35 is not offered. So FAR, no one has replied to my email.
This shirt attracted my attention because it’s claimed to be made of “extra heavy” linen - unlike your typical summer lightweight shirts you find everywhere. While I expected “extra heavy” to be somewhat heavier, I admit it’s not a measurable category unless gsm is provided; yet, for me it ticks this checkbox.
I had to remove one star for a simple reason: when completely buttoned down, one half of the shirt is noticeably shorter than the other. This flaw remains after ironing and washing - see the photo. I find it unacceptable given Kamakura’s aimed premium market segment and the emphasis on not compromising on quality.
The delivery to Germany was fast and problem-free.
very soft and nice tee shirt, I like the thickness of the cotton.
I returned to purchase this Oxford for the 2nd time, that speaks volumes the quality of the products. The customer service support has been very good & professional as well.
Great quality. A little stiff right out of the package. Softened up after one gentle wash and hang dry. The size Large was perfect for me at 5'11" and 160lbs.
After several Vintage Ivy button down shirt I now found the shirt, that soles the two problems thatbdid not make the Ivys my perdekte shirt: it has the perfect body length and the front buttons close much deeper. This now is perfect!
