Regular price $55.00Dress shirts were originally undergarments, thus it is a rule in the West to not wear undershirt under a dress shirt. At Kamakura Shirts, we take it as an obligation to follow the rules of international standards, but the hot and humid summers of Japan recently are impossible.
For this reason, we accepted a challenge to develop a high-class undershirt that keeps shirts nice and clean even during the hottest and most humid days. This is not just an undershirt, but an undershirt designed by Kamakura Shirts, the dress shirt experts.
Our experts have integrated all the knowledge of shirt making to crafting an undershirt pattern.
The cutting around the neck is according to the button position of the shirt and the opening of the collar. Other things like durability, sleeves that reduce stress, adjustment of length, and addition of special deodorant process...
There is over 30 things that were considered in making this special undershirt.
One of the most particular things we considered was the color: beige and gray.
We recommend beige with white shirts and gray with blue shirts:
White & Beige to prevent transparency // Blue & Gray to prevent staining (e.g. sweating).
As for the material, if it is cotton 100%, it will take too long to dry and too thick.
We mixed polyester to get a lighter material and also the quick drying effect.
In order to feel as though you are wearing the shirt on your bare skin, the collar, hem, and cuffs are all seamless.
Cut-off ® (Gunze patented technology)
Water absorption, quick drying, and special deodorant processing
1. Sleeve Shape
The sleeves get narrower in order to reduce wobbling and discomfort.
2. V Line Design
In order to prevent the neck line from stretching, the seam is sewn on the inside.
3. Neckline matching the button position on the shirt
The neckline bottom position matches the position of the third button of a Kamakura Shirt.
4. Hem Cutting
The hem in the back uses a cutting technique that works together with the movements of the upper body to prevent it from climbing up.

Love the deep V and flat seams. Lightweight fabric but can be a bit clingy depending on the shirt fabric

Trim fitting, thin fabric, perfect design for undershirt. Wish it had a higher long staple cotton content. Still, I am buying more.
A fantastic shirt with a timeless Ivy style. The seersucker fabric is lightweight, breathable, and perfect for warm weather, while the construction and overall quality are excellent.
For sizing, I'm typically between a European 39/40. I chose a 16½ for a more comfortable, relaxed fit, and it was exactly what I was looking for. If you prefer a roomier fit rather than a tailored one, sizing up worked well for me.
Versatile formal trousers with excellent fabric, tailoring, and overall construction. I'm very happy with the quality and fit.
For sizing reference, I normally wear a 34-inch waist. Based on my previous experience with Kamakura, I usually size up by one, so I ordered a size 50—and it fits perfectly.
If you're between sizes , consider sizing up. I'll definitely be buying more colours in this style.
As an older fella who’s enjoyed (or been underwhelmed by) OCBDs from shirtmakers over the years (e.g., Troy Guild, Brooks Brothers, Sero, Mercer & Sons, Jake’s (London), Drake’s, O’Connell’s, Individualized), this Kamakura AMETORA shirt is a valentine to what a classic OCBD is supposed to be; it definitely checks all the boxes: full cut, unfused placket/ cuffs/ collar, the correct placket width, medium weight cloth, and a collar-roll as god intended (and few makers get right). Great sizing, too: i typically get a 15.5 X 33 shirt and this 15.5” turned out to be perfect in the sleeves for me. More color options, please.
Usual bespoke user. Apart from bespoke, best quality shirt that I have tried. Is my first purchase and won’t be the last. Thanks!
I was a bit reluctant to make this purchase because I couldn't decide whether the Medium or Large would be the best fit. For items like this, I would normally buy a Medium. For reference, I'm 6'2" and 165 lbs. After going back and forth - and reading that this garment is intended as an overshirt - I decided on the Large size. Lucky for me, the fit is perfect. It's not too big. It drapes beautifully, and the design, with its simplicity and clean lines, is exactly what I was looking for. I'm hard to please when it comes to clothing. Purchasing online is even more daunting. Ordering internationally without a return policy felt like a real bet. However, I made the bet, and I'm very happy that I did. I've had it for less than a week and have received multiple compliments from multiple strangers, which is unusual - more of a testament to its beautiful simplicity.
