Yamanashi Collection

Silk fabric has been the backbone of local produce in Yamanashi. Blessed with the right conditions, silk cultivation is a thriving business in the surrounding areas of Mount Fuji. Local artisans weave fabric with the traditional skills which have been passed down through generations. True craftsmanship can be observed here by those artisans who have kept practicing simple, honest and sincere "monodzukuri" (making of things) and is particular to these areas. Enjoy the completely "Made in Japan" ties that Kamakura Shirts is proud of.

The Gunnai area in Yamanashi Prefecture (including Fuji-Yoshida City and Nishikatsura Town) is blessed with clear water and abundant nature, and has long been known for its thriving sericulture. The textiles produced here are known as 'Gunnai textiles,' with a history stretching back about 1,000 years. We are pleased to introduce a new series from Yamanashi Fabric, the 'Eri Peace Silk Ties,' carrying on this rich tradition.

What is Eri Silk?

Eri silk is made from the cocoons of the Eri silkworm (Eri-san), a wild species. It is distinguished by its unique, subtle luster and softness similar to cashmere, which is not found in other types of silk. Additionally, Eri silk is sometimes called "Peace Silk" because the silk is harvested from the cocoons after the moths have emerged, avoiding unnecessary killing and emphasizing respect for life.

Lineup

This Chambray Collection is being introduced as dress shirts. By featuring styles unique to dress shirts, such as regular collars and tab collars, the look of chambray shirts, which are often associated with casual wear, will be transformed. Pairing them with a tie and a navy jacket will complete a traditional style.
